SEED salon: Sean Hillen -- 19 September

SEAN HILLEN -- ARCHAEOLOGY FROM IRELANTIS?

A SEED Art-Science Salon

Venue: Upstairs, 4 Dame Lane, Dublin 2
Date: Monday 19 September 2005
Time: 7pm
Cost: FREE

Artist Sean Hillen presents an exhibition and presentation titled: "Archaeology from Irelantis?". Though the title may be tongue-in-cheek, the joke is in fact that he's serious. Inspired by the idea that function is often expressed in form, Hillen points out and ponders certain isomorphisms (literally, similarities in shape) between archaic Irish artifacts and certain technological devices.

About the artist
Well known for his collage and photomontage works, artist Sean Hillen is also a sometime inventor (he was a prizewinner in the 1990 UK Design council 'Year of Invention' competition) and as well as public sculpture commissions and video for BBC TV and Super Furry Animals, has also made 'special effects' for the theatre. He studied at Belfast college of Art, The London College of Printing and the Slade School. His work can be seen at www.seanhillen.com .
