SEED SALON: POETRY AND SCIENCE, October 4
October 4, 7pm, Odessa Club (above The Odessa Restaurant, at 13 Dame Court, Dublin 2). Free.
In this SEED art-science salon, physicist and poet IGGY MCGOVERN presents his thoughts on science and poetry suitably laced with poems by Keats, William Rowan Hamilton, Miroslav Holub and others. This will be followed by the first public screening of KEN MCMULLEN'S new film ART, POETRY AND PARTICLE PHYSICS, based on interviews with John Berger and particle physicists at CERN in Geneva. The Director Ken McMullen will be joining us for the salon. The film, is an initiative of tthe Arts Council England's Interdisciplinary Arts Department, as part of the series Pioneers in Art and Science.
Iggy McGovern is Associate Professor of Physics at Trinity College. He won the RTE Rattlebag Poetry Slam in 2004. His first collection of poetry is 'The King of Suburbia', published by Dedalus Press 2005.
Ken McMullen is a Film Director and Artist living currently in London. His Feature Films are distributed world wide, his Documentaries broadcast extensively and his Art Works exhibited in leading contemporary art galleries in Europe, The United States and the Far East. His recent art work 'Skin Without Skin' was awarded 'The Prize for the Outstanding Work' in a major International Exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Bejing, June 2001.
